Congratulations to Alex Dowsett on his sprinter points win to don the green jersey in stage one of Tour of Gila. Alex and Ben King(US) rode an impressive day going off the front with 6 other riders in the very early stages of the race. They stayed away until the final few miles on the final 6.7 mile tortuous climb, but not without making a valiant effort. The entire U23 team rode incredible today and we look forward to stage two tomorrow an 80 mile road race. Below are some pics from the day.

The Team
Welcome to the Trek-LIVESTRONG pro-continental cycling team, designed specifically for Under-23 riders. Created by Lance Armstrong as a project to develop the next generation of elite cyclists in 2009, the team continues to feature up-and coming-talent from around the world, including junior world record holder Dale Parker (AUS) and national champions Nathan Brown (USA) and Michael Vink (NZL). Under the leadership of ten-time Tour de France veteran Axel Merckx, son of the great Belgian Eddie Merckx, the team has developed nine riders to the WorldTour level to date including five-time world champion Taylor Phinney, former American champion Ben King and British national time trial champion Alex Dowsett. In an effort to support the team founder, Trek-LIVESTRONG will proudly ride under the LIVESTRONG banner, joining the Lance Armstrong Foundation in their global fight against cancer.
LIVESTRONG ™
The Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) fights for the 28 million people around the world living with cancer today. There can be - and should be - life after cancer for more people. That's why the LAF kicks in at the moment of diagnosis, giving people the resources and support they need to fight cancer head-on. The LAF finds innovative ways to raise awareness, fund research and end the stigma about cancer that many survivors face. The LAF connects people and communities to drive social change and calls for state, national and world leaders to help fight this disease. Anyone, anywhere can join the fight against cancer.
