ABOUT NATHAN…

How did you get started in bicycle racing?
My dad has always had a passion for cycling, so I’ve grown up around cycling my whole life. Keeping fit and training was a part of his daily routine. At the age of 8, my parents bought me a 5 speed mountain bike. I would ride with my dad during his warm up or on his easy days. The following year, my parents bought me a road bike, and I entered my first race that same year.

Tell us about your first race.
My first race was a local junior criterium in Tennessee. I raced in tennis shoes and an extra large jersey that we borrowed from a friend. I’ve been hooked on cycling ever since.

What is your favorite memory or experience on the bike?
My favorite memory on the bike has got to be winning the junior 15-16 National Road Race Championships. Approaching the finish line knowing I was about to win was the greatest feeling ever.
